Description
By Martin Shaw
“Militarism arises because of economic rivalry on the world market (“a direct consequence of unbridled capitalist development and of international competition”), because of the need to suppress the colonial natives, and in order to ”bolster the internal order”. This last task falls to militarism “in all systems of class society” but is directed especially against the working class under capitalism. A crucial argument is that the external, as much as the internal, aspects of militarism are opposed to the interests of the working class.”
