A book that has since appeared contains extensive additional documentation on the reaction of the “free press” and the US government to the violence and atrocities committed in East Timor, which, I again want to emphasise, are a direct and continuing responsibility of the Western industrial powers that have eagerly sought to participate in this glorious massacre by providing the armaments that Indonesia desperately needs and by concealing the gruesome record.”
