By Mihailo Markovic

“Each democratic revolution must come up with a new idea of the separation of powers. One of the greatest achievements of the bourgeois democratic revolution
was the transcendence of absolute monarchy and the separation of powers into
legislative, executive and judicial aspects, with the appropriate mechanism of checks and balances. The solution was rather simple since the sphere of political
society was separated from the sphere of civil, economic society; therefore the state was not concerned with planning, coordination and overall control. That is
how bourgeois state adjusted to a laissez-faire competitive, individualistic, present-oriented society.”
