“During the night of May 14/15th 1649, at the height of the English
Revolution, Cromwell’s and Fairfax’s troops defeated, dispersed and
captured.some members of a force of Levellers in Burford, Oxfordshire.
The Levellers were imprisoned in Burford Church and eventually three were shot for their armed mutiny.”
