Description

“The media usually seek to present the Social Contract as an undertaking to restrict wages. If that were all it was, it would be bound to fail as a weapon against inflation. The only feasible course of action at the present time is to make the trade unions into an organisational instrument for democratic regulation of the
economy in pursuit of social priorities. Those who wish to use the Social Contract simply as a weapon against wage increases, are seeking to restore prosperity to
British capital through exploitation of cheap labour and the destruction of the social services. Such reactionary strategy springs from inability to contemplate
restrictions on the free activity and movement of capital, or economic criteria other than those of market competition.”
