Description

By President Houari Boumediene (foreword by Ken Coates)

“The Sixth Special Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations was convened to study the problems of raw materials and economic development, and it opened at the New York headquarters of the U.N. on April 9th 1974. The difference between the social priorities of the Governments of the different sectors of the world was reflected in the status of their delegations. Numerous Third World countries were represented by Head of State or senior ministers. The debate was opened on April 10th. President Boumediene, of the Council of Revolution in Algeria, was the first to speak. His speech is of considerable interest and importance. The Spokesman makes it available to English-speaking readers in the hope that it will assist them both to understand, and to change, the world which President Boumediene so tellingly describes.”
