Description

By Michael Bodington

“If technology does not necessitate large-scale centralised organisations, why then do they exist at all? On the fundamentals of an explanation Marx’s analysis is, in my opinion, definitive. Centralised bureaucratic power is, of course, older than capitalism. In any class society, that is, a society in which one class imposes its authority and exploits others, there will be tendencies towards bureaucratic centralism in the exercise of political power. That capitalism was a form of class society was already evident before Marx’s day. His analysis, however, clarified understanding of the mechanism of this exploitation. But the most important theme reinforced by the whole analysis throughout Capital is the underlying law of motion in the economic base of capitalist society which is indispensable to the understanding of the development of modern society as a whole.”
